Everybody in this forum should be invited to your place for a movie and yogurt. I'm sure you would be able to hit Reference with earplugs on.

Although the 7900 is a beast it only has a 1-2 db increase in SPL over the 7500/7700 amp. The cost is not in line with what I consider to be in line with the improvement .

Definitely the 7900 is a power headroom issue if cranked which in turn does not correlate evenly with the volume output. To really get the crank out one would need a huge subwoofer which will tear apart the room during an explosion scene.

I have a question about the use and the power of the 7900. Right now I have a dedicated HT room twenty five feet long by thirteen feet wide and a six and foot high ceiling. Besides the power and blow out your ears performance with the 7900 isn't it best to have all the power you can mustard for your speakers to bring out their best performance. I have the 990/7700 combo and while I feel I have plenty of power for my B&W 804's would the 7900 make any difference in quality?

Thanks XM. Any feelings about the Marantz AV 7005 processor? I myself still feel the need to wait. Not that I am expecting Outlaw Audio to make any surprised announcements but as I have said in pass messages my 990 is performing pretty well but I do want to eventually step it up a notch. The demise of the 978 has me thinking that it would be better to wait until next year...more time to save money, and perhaps Marantz, Integra, or Denon might come out with a new line of processors. Maybe better a company that is known in the marketplace but is not as well advertised like Sherbourn. I wonder if Outlaw Audio will be offering any deals on any upcoming processors besides Marantz. What do you think of this: www.sherbourn.com/index.php/home-theater-products/preprotuners/..

No feelings about the Marantz although I am sure it is a good processor. I can't see spending that much on it at this point. I would wait for next year if your 990 is holding up. No doubt some new bell or whistle will come out that makes life livable again. Although the demise of the 978 was kind of expected I am sure it is a great shock to Outlaws everywhere. Of all the aguments I have heard about made in China the best one would now appear to be that their court system won't allow Outlaw to do much about the "unilateral cancellation" of the 978.

The real culprit in this debacle is not China - it's the unethical big label that bullied the China company into stopping development and manufacturing of the 978. If we could learn the name of that big label company, we could spread news of its conduct over the 'net, calling for a boycott. That would put more pressure on that company to let the 978 move forward than any court could. It is not a legal issue, it's an ethics issue. Public pressure might at least force the big label to tell the China company to release all the CAD and Gerber design files to Outlaw so they could take them to their new partner company and get on with the 978. My wishfull thinking.
