Cogito, I'll bet that you wouldn't tell much of a difference until you hit some serious SPL between the 7500 and the 7125? In fact, I was pretty happy driving my Klipsh speakers with my old 80 wpc 5.1 Yammy, it was just getting old and had very limited audio control to offer (no crossovers, delay, etc.). I'll bet I am only tapping into a fraction of the 7500, especially with the RF-7s efficiency at 101 dB. By my primitive calculations it only takes about 30 watts to generate 112 dB SPL with my speakers at 14 feet! I think the higher wattage and capacitance comes in handy for impedence dips and sustained low frequency response, but I don't think it makes any difference at reasonable listening levels. It gets insanely loud very quickly and the 7500 barely gets warm to the touch - and I have a HUGE finished open basement. I find this with guitar amps, I prefer my low wattage guitar amps at lower volumes (but overdriven nonetheless) and in most settings - lower wattage guitar amps (tube) are just more dynamic and responsive to pick attack at low volume levels, and a big (100+ watt) does not really open up until it gets VERY loud (which is not tolerable in most venues). Seriously, on the 990 I can't go past -26dB for most movies and -8dB for most music - it is just too much volume (my ears ring at 0dB setting = 112dB SPL and that is just not healthy!). Love your 7125 and enjoy it heartily!
