There are two "MENU" buttons on the remote. The button that says "Menu" in white above the button says "Tone" on the button itself. That button provides tone control for the 990, but on some devices (such as DVD players) it will provide menu access. The button directly beneath the "9" says "Menu" on the face of the button and "Enter" above the button. That button brings up the 990's setup menu, but may provide an "Enter" function for some other devices.
