I am looking for a DVD changer, so I don't have to keep changing out my DVDs and CDs. I do not own any SACDs, etc. Prefer to be a couch potato when possible. I have seen the Sony 5 disc changer and seen reviews of the Sony and Pioneer 300-400 disc players-but I think that number is overkill for me. I guess a Blue Ray player/changer is still too $$$; although mult. BD drives in a computer slave might work-at a min of $100/drive slot.

Any advice appreciated.

Currently have an OPPO 981; 990 Rec; and Sony KDS-60A3000 60" rear proj tv. Will likely get a PS3 as well, despite lack of 7.1 outputs ($150 discount w new Sony Card). Tube amps/K horns.

Although mine is several years old, and there may be newer technology with more features, I am happy with my Sony 955 (400-disc) changer. It plays the usual non-blu-ray material: CDs, SACDs, Dolby, dts etc. Nice feature is on-screen table of contents, wherein you can "label" each entry if you wish. It is slower in playing a disc than the 455s (CDs only)probably because it has to "decide" what the disc is, first. That aside, it has been very useful. But I don't use ethe 955 for regular CDs.

I had absolutely no issues with my sony dvd changer (5 disc). I just recently replaced it (read- moved it to the living room)with a blue ray player.
