Yes it works.

If you have a DVD player with 5.1 analog outputs and plug them into the 1050's 5.1 analog inputs, then the 1050 can matrix the left & right surround channels to generate the cetner surround channel. It will not recognize the DTS ES (or is the 6th channel indicated by EX?) flag however.
