There are two issues at play here.

First, the OSD pop-ups are not available at the component output, no matter what the settings are. This ias been true from day one and will remain true for the life of the 990, as it is a direct result of hardware limitations.

Second, the OSD pop-ups should be available at the composite and s-video outputs. There may be one exception at play here: when a video source is configured for DVI. In that case, it's possible that the 990 simply disregards analog video entirely and doesn't worry with the composite and s-video menu pop-ups. That's just a guess, though.
