The 990 shouldn't be much more versatile than the Classe 300, although it may be a fair bit easier. (It's got several feature set advantages over the SSP-30, if I remember correctly, but the 300 added a lot compared to the 30.) Both will be nice upgrades from the trusty ol' 1050. Video adjustments will be handled at the source or display with the 990, as the 990 does no internal video processing (just transcoding from composite/s-video to component).
