If there is another firmware update, I'd like to see smaller increments in the crossover selection instead of 20. Increments of 1 would be great, but I'd take 5 too. I just can't get my speakers right where I want them. I've tried 40 and 60 and I'd like something in the middle. smile

Cheers!

Peter

Here's another one on that note, the ability to set the speaker distance in .5 foot increments would be nice too.
the other night i moved the the couch around to get the surround delay right.

congratulations on a great set of ears! speed of sound, 6 inches, that is bat-like. I went two weeks without noticing that one of my rear speakers was disconnected!
I can't think of much sound-wise that I would change, except maybe adding a second set of 7.1 analog inputs. It would also be nice if I could see the audio-mode better on the display. I guess all my enhancements would be age-related...

Ha.. Two weeks without noticing your speaker was disconnected, which one? I can only imagine it was one of the rear channels in a 7.1 setup that's rarely used.

I have a B&K setup in my folks house with an M&K S150 speaker system. Having the ability to set the crossover in smaller increments allowed me a near perfect setup as suggested by M&K.

For me, the ideal situation is to be able to utilize the full frequencies your speaker system is capable of and this seems like a simple firmware update. If my system was strictly for movies I'd probably set the Crossover to 80, but I use it for music as well and therefore would like the full dynamic range. I asked for it on the first update, but it didn't happen, but I also don't see the requests as much as Bass Management requests.

Through a bad habit of moving stuff around and experimenting, I have compiled the following statistics:

1. time to notice speaker disconnected:
rear : 2 weeks
main left: 2 days
center: 0.5 hour (during a movie!)

2. time to notice computer not plugged in after a "faulty" USB connection to 990: 2 frustrating hours.

3. Years before noticing a "loudness" button in my C-1 Carver preamp: 12 eek

4. Age at which I realized I could have gone on reverse in a tricycle and it would have been sooo cool: 14 (I still kick myself)

I may be absent-minded but at least I am clumsy...

That's why you guys amaze me with your precise hearing. I couldn't tell you if my speaker distance was 6 inches off - heck, I couldn't tell you if the speaker was there at all...he, he, he...

I am better (by my own standards) at hearing frequencies. So I second the smaller increments. It would give me quite a few more hours of experimenting opportunities with the SMS-1 and perhaps allow me to pick-up another missing speaker... Hey, what does that button do?...

I'm with you on hearing frequencies, but I definitely notice when a channel is out. Although some material fools me and makes me think the speaker is not working.

The USB connection is not as bad as a friend. She called me to tell me her computer isn't working. She spent the whole weekend trying to get it to work. When I went to her house, I found the USB cable was plugged into her ethernet port. Needless to say her face turned red with embarrassment.

That loudness button can make a difference. smile )

It's never too late to sneak out and do the tricycle thing.

I certainly notice a difference with the crossover at different settings. I hope outlaw takes it implements it because other than that, I have no complaints.
