I have a PC with only S-vid out and I want to hook up another monitor that only has composite inputs. Will the 990 take the S-vid input from the PC and output via the Composite out to the monitor?

I know I could always use zone 2 to accomplish this but it would be easier not to.

Yes, the 990 does transcode between s-video and composite. I double-checked the manual, since I haven't actually attempted this with my unit, and the manual has this to say: "Any signal that appears at the S-Video input jacks (DVD, Video1-5 In) is automatically sent to the composite and S-Video VIDEO MONITOR OUT and VIDEO 1 REC OUT jacks, and to the component MONITOR OUT jacks." I think the second zone actually uses just straight video switching (composite inputs only sent to the composite zone output and s-video inputs only sent to the s-video zone output).

I looked through the manual twice and didn't see that. Maybe cause its 2am here and I need to go to bed.
Glad it does work out that way since my zone 2 idea wouldn't have worked.
