well congrats on solving the problem Daryl. what cable brand were you using?

Not to downplay your buzz or hum problem.. but there may be something in your house that is causing that problem.

Ceiling fans are notorious for adding hum to audio. As are light dimmers.

try and seperate as best you can your audio cables from any power cords. esp power cords that are on the ground that may be next to any audio cables or speaker wires.
