I accidentally found that this was caused by Tone Defeat set to OFF too. If it's ON, everything calibrates fine with internal noise, if it's OFF, some weird channel level adjustments have to be made resulting in the center channel being about 5dB higher that the mains.
I wonder if somebody from Outlaws can explain what's going on with the DSP.
Btw, I still think DPLII Music is unusable with 990 as it shrinks the soundstage, messes up the bass, and brings harshness.
