As it happens, there are a number of Magnepan owners rattling around here (Ritz will likely drop by this thread shortly and can offer some good input - he's using a 990 and a 755, the predecessor to the 7500, with 1.6's). The combination of 990 and 7500 should be a nice fit for both movies and two-channel music.
