Since you've got the 5.1 analog output connected, I assume you are selecting the 7.1 direct input on the 990. If you have a DVD-Audio disc in the player, you should not have the option of selecting Dolby Digital or DTS - a DVD-A disc uses MLP (Meridian Lossless Packet) compression. What disc are you using to test this with?
