Couple things to check: make sure you have a video connection from composite video, s-video, or component video to your TV; make sure you have the TV on the input from the 990 (and that it isn't the DVI, since that connection does not carry any OSD information); and make sure you have hit the "TNR" button on the 990's remote before using the "MENU" button on the remote. Do any of those get you on track?
