I could not wait until tomorrow to install the 990. After some listening time, I do believe it sounds better than the 950. I have not listened to 2ch music for any length of time but upsampling does seem to improve the sound. Two things I do not like, 1.The Remote, which I really dislike, can be fixed with a Harmony. 2. Auto setup does not have a feature to check for out of phase wiring, my $400.00 Yamaha has this feature. This can probably be fixed with an upgrade. From a short two hours of listening to DVD Movies, HD Sat Movies, DVD-A, SACD and Analog CDs, I really like this unit and think my money was well spent.
