Does anyone know how you can find out if your 1050 has the latest or last update?

I don't even recall what firmware revisions (if any) the 1050 got during its life. I know it had a hard time with the more aggressive Dolby EX flags under certain circumstances, but it's been so long now since I had one that I would have to dig through some old threads to recall the whole deal and I don't think there was ever a firmware revision to address it - just some recommended setup options.

okay...seems I am having volume knob issues and remote control issues...I can hear it hum when I press the buttons but it doesn't do anything...thanks gonk...

There weren't any firmware revisions that I know about for the 1050. The only trick was to enable the center surround channel to cope with the Dolby EX flags.

You may be thinking of the Model 950, which had a couple of updates (the red dot and blue dot revisions, plus the DTS-ES LFE fix).
