Be aware that most TV's don't like both S-video and composite hooked up to the same video input. They will interfere with each other so it's one or the other. You mentioned that the composite works ok when you disconnected the S cable but what about the other way around? Does S work when you disconnect the composite cable? If you need the composite hook-up for legacy reasons move it to another input (video 2 for example) if available. If this was a hook-up arrangement that was previously ok working and not a new wiring scheme then the 1050 is suspect but I would double verify the cables and connectors as previously mentioned.
