Welcome back! Do you have surround back speaker, srayer? If you do not, you may be running into some of the newer movies with a particularly quirky Dolby Digital EX flag that forces the receiver to switch to EX decoding (or, in the case of the 1050, Surround 6.1) - which might make the surround channels seem softer than usual because it is redirecting data to the speaker that isn't there.
