Any thoughts on the benefits of patching in a pair of M200 amps to the main fronts of my 1050? Would this upgrade be worth it?
I am running NHT superones as mains, with a supercenter and 3 superzeros for surrounds.

Thanks!

The NHT's are not the most efficient (86dB, if the info I found is accurate), so extra power probably wouldn't hurt. I'd say give it a shot.

I am using a Dynaco ST-70 35wpc tube amp for my mains at the moment. They are 86db Proac diy clones. It is a great combination. They go plenty loud, even with only 35w, and I have to say that I can't go back to the 1050s sound. (Don't get me wrong, the 1050 is still a great piece of equipment.)

My next step is to try building and using 9wpc SET amps, but that'll have to wait on $$$. I wouldn't use them for HT, just for music, although I do use the Dynaco for HT.

Don't get too hung up on power.

Thanks Gonk and Zacster for your responses...

I guess what I really want to know is what kind of sonic enhancement adding a couple outboard M200s would do for my fronts for music and movies as well as what I would gain freeing up some internal power for the center and three surrounds.

You're right, Gonk, my NHT supers are all 86db. - not efficient, but being a musician myself, I appreciate the NHT's accuracy and brutal honesty with different sources.

What do you think - would I be buying a $500 placebo?
