Gonk gave me suggestions on how to record from VHS to DVD while watching TV. Works great. My question is: My TV has Monitor Out (video, audio L/R), A/V 1 (video, audio L/R), A/V 2 (video, audio L/R), and S-Video connections. The only hookup into the TV now is the Monitor Out (from 1050) into A/V 1 Video. Should there be more connections from (1) 1050 to TV, and/or (2) DVD to TV?

Right now I can view TV, DVD and VCR (through DVD connection), and record from VCR to DVD and TV to DVD. By switching connections I can record TV to VCR. Do I need more connections going into the TV? From where?

It's all a matter of your needs... I have one video cable going from my 950 to my TV (with the 950 doing all of the video switching for me).

I do have a pair of audio cables from the TV's audio out to an input on the 950, but I don't really use it (didn't have those until recently, when I had a couple extra sets of cables). The only reason I have those connected is in case I want to use the TV's front A/V inputs for some sort of temporary use (like a video camera or something).

Since I am out of my depth, I should probably stay out of this, but . . . .

If the TV is HDTV capable (not clear to me from the post), and the DVD is a progressive scan (also not clear), wouldn't a component connection be necessary for 480p? If not, I have way too many wires running to my TV!

You are correct, Michael -- if the TV set has a component video input, you would want to use that for DVD viewing. In addition, if the set is HD-compatible and can display 480p, you would want a progressive scan player and a component video input. Based on previous discussions, though, I believe that Daryl's set is similar to mine (no component input).
