Follow up question about the M200s. I have Canton Karat 960 3-way floor standing speakers and an Adcom 5-Disc changer, and an adcom pre-amplifier. I need to purchase a new amplifier (or amplifiers) to replace a Bryston my brother wants back. My question is:

Can I just skip the preamplifier to make my system less complicated since I only use the CD player? I have heard that if a CD-Player has "variable outs" and a volume control on the Remote, you can plug it directly into the amplifier. Is this correct? Has anyone ever done this for a simple stereo system solution?

Thanks.

Yes, I used a cd player directly into a 100W stereo amp for most of my college days, was the only thing I could afford/piece together at the time. Check the audio outputs on the CD player, if they are 1V, then you should have plenty of headroom.
