hmmm ... since I use my 1050 upstairs in a dedicated stereo configuration (with a pair of Onyx Rocket 750's), I wonder if this new 2150 might be a better option for this room? I do use it for the TV sound as well, but the primary intended use of this system is CD, DVD-A, SACD and radio (both OTA and Internet). I have no phonograph or records any more, but ... hmmmm .... ------------------ pat----email: pat@sklenar.info ---===--- home page: Grumpy's Lair

Apparently Outlaw failed to completly understand its consumer or they are in dire need of a marketing dept.
While they heard the cries of 2 channel technology they failed to hear the cries over how unattractive their products are aesthetically. "Retro" and electronic equipment is a BAD combination........

Pat,
You can solve the record problem in a hurry. A nice little ProJect or Music Hall table complete with arm and cartridge and a trip to a few yard sales, thrift stores and flea markets. It always amazes me how many perfect condition records you can still find without even trying very hard. I have not collected in sometime (have over 5000) but I stopped on the way home at the local thrift store on the off chance of finding old tubes and in the record section, a mint original Julie London, a Mint original B. B. King, and 1st reissue double album or Chuck Berry. Also Some great R&R and 3 mint Shady Dogs (all of which I had but bought anyway). They are sitll out there guys, and the Outlaws new product and people like Music Hall and Project have made it very easy to get back into LPs. Enjoy the Music. Analog still rocks.

You have to remember, while some folks have complained about the look of Outlaw's style, many of us have also stated that we like the current look. It's a tough choice, they can't satisfy everyone and they're going to end up disappointing someone. As for the RR-2150, I'm going to withhold judgement until I see it with my own two eyes. "Retro" and electronic equipment is a BAD combination........ If you beleive that, then you've not seen some of the higher end audiophile stuff then, have you? Very retro! ------------------ pat----email: pat@sklenar.info ---===--- home page: Grumpy's Lair

"Retro" is very strong in professional studio equipment: big meters, big black knobs. Looks cool.

I'm excited about the new product and would like to give it a try head to head with my early 1960's amps...specifically a Scott integrated tube amp.
RETRO and ELECTRONICS are absolutely way COOL!
I have a Dynaco ST-70 updated and a Scott 222c and I'm shopping for more Scott gear. My early 1960's Scott 222c is dramatically better sounding than any $1k modern AV receiver and has real style unlike the bland black faces of much of today's consumer electronics....if not black then Xmas tree looking with lights and gizmos.
I agree that the expensive new stuff, however, tends to have a variety of looks ranging from retro to very elegant.
Looks are subjective so some will hate it while others will love it. But please don't think that vintage gear can't sound fantastic (although it almost always needs updating of caps, tubes, etc. which don't last forever). As stated in the newsletter the same circuit designs of the past are still popular today. What's new are connections to PCs and optimization for subs.
I'm a little concerned about not having a tube pre-amp but I'll ignore technology and just let me ears decide. I look forward to seeing how the new OUTLAW competes with my vintage amps. A restored Scott 299b is about the same price as the Outlaw after restoration. Does it have a HT passthrough for connection to a 950? How can one use both the 950/770 and this 2-channel amp with the same speakers? Connect the 950 to the video input of the 2-channel box?

Is there a pic of the RR 2150 anywhere? I'd even settle for a pic of the prototype from coverage of HE 2003.
Thanx, Sanjay
