Glad to hear the LFM-1's are still serving you well! The SMS-1 is a great tool. Any EQ system will take some brain sweat to make optimum use of, I think, but the interface (and Outlaw's guide to it) is definitely effective and fairly quick to run through compared to the alternatives.
