I'll second the excellent advice about subs and allowing for adjustable sub placement - in-wall subs can be done (just ask charlie here in the forum about his old house), but it takes a good bit more planning than in-wall speakers. I'd also add that a downfiring sub like the LFM's are very kid- and pet-resistant. My cats will perch on it or use it as a step up onto the entertainment center and my daughter will occasionally pat the top, but none of them have tried to reach under it and poke at the driver or stick things in the ports. All I have to do is wipe off the kitty footprints and toddler handprints on the plexi top from time to time...
