In my experience, interconnects (analog and digital) can be pretty closely gathered without problems, although I do try to route power and speaker cables as separately as possible (especially power cables). I don't have much advise on organizers - I've had good luck nailing velcro wire ties to the back of the old entertainment center as a way of controling power cable routing and getting the rear of the cabinet as open as possible is a big help, but that's about all I've done.
