Update: I got it to work with JRiver and MP3. When I tried lossless it failed. So I emailed to Outlaw and Ben wrote back "...DLNA is not ideal for hi-res audio as it is only reliable for compressed audio...". I asked what "hi-res" meant in this context. Ben wrote "...avoid DLNA for your CD quality and above content...".

Other ports, like coax and USB can handle hi-res. But i want the Ethernet to handle 16/44 and higher. I guess I will have to buy a separate device with a better Ethernet, like Allo Signature with Raspberry Pi, and others. I think they are called "renderers" and "streamers".
