REW does more than merely measure; it can also suggest parametric EQ filters to tame the peaks & dips that it measured. These filters have 3 parameters: centre frequency (where the peak or dip is centered at), boost/cut (how many dB to bring down a peak or boost a dip) and Q (the width of the filter: is the peak a sharp needle or broad hill).

REW can suggest generic parameters for the PEQ filters. However, if you have a device that is supported by REW (like the 976), then REW will spit out filter parameters specifically with the 976 in mind. Things like the amount of boost/cut or the number of filters per channel will be based on the 976's capabilities. As Ben said, you can take these parameters and dial them right into the 976.
