I would think that I would place the SMS between th pre/pro and the sub, run the auto EQ, then use the SMS to see how flat the response is. If it's to your liking, sell the SMS. If not, you can use the SMS for your "second degree smoothing".

Yes,...I guess this is what I would be doing at the end,....new pre/pro> SMS-1> subs.....then make a fine tune,....but until then,....that is my concern,....
I would like to keep the SMS-1, It does a terrific job,...But! we will see.
