I can't tell much about the bass management capabilities of the Pioneer. The separate power amp and speaker/sub setup is definitely well-suited to adding an ICBM-1 between the receiver and amp.

Do you need the ICBM? If you are perfectly happy with the bass management in the receiver, then no. If the Pioneer's bass management is limited or you've had trouble with it, the ICBM should solve your problems.
