Thanks to a number of you, my 950 is wired in, and all is working well. Watched the first movie Friday night ("Confessions of a Dangerous Mind"), and although it didn't have a great soundtrack, I was very pleased with the 950. Despite my awkward speaker placement (dictated by architecture), a good, seamless (to me), surround of clean sound.

I am still tinkering with set-up, but I found the 950 much easier to configure than the 1050--perhaps due to my experience with the 1050, or perhaps due to the OSD, which I really like.

For whatever reason, I had a problem with signal loss on cable music when I switched gear. My cable audio signal is split from the cable box so I don't have to turn on my HT gear to get around-the-house music. When I replaced the 1050 with the 950, I also replaced an old Yamaha amp that was powering my 2nd zone with a Parasound 1000 amp and 850 pre-amp. Although the old gear sounded fine, this group of components suffered from low signal strength (a long time ago, Gonk warned me about this). I solved the problem with a $40 composite & s-video splitter amp from Radio Shack (I had been using "Y" cables) and a $30 whole-house amp from the cable company.

Now that I have learned something about the 950, I hope to contribute as much to others as those on the board have contributed to me.

I appreciate your help!

Mike
