I have no doubt that the tech support person at Universal may be pretty well removed from the engineering side, and Universal sells a lot of OEM remotes. The SL-8000 and SL-9000 are nearly identical remotes (take a look at url=http://universalremote.com/htm/products/]this page[/url] for specifics of all of their remotes), with the principal difference being that the 9000 supports learning functions (just as the 950's remote does) while the 8000 does not. The SL-7000 is a different beast. There may be an internal model number within Universal for an SL-9000 without the LCD (perhaps they call it a 6000). Either way, the SL-9000 manual is a handy resource for your 950's remote.
