Just curious what other people are using for power conditioning/surge protection for their audio gear. I tried using some surplus APC SmartUPS 1400 units but they didn't appreciate the power draw from the amp. So I'm upgrading to a "spare" APC Matrix 5000VA unit. The plan is to feed all my theater gear from this. So everything will be getting pure sine wave 120V from the batteries and be isolated completely from the household wiring (refrigerators/microwaves/hair dryers/etc).

Am I over-engineering here or just being prudent?
