Yes, it does, but I know they had a hard time late in the design process getting the performance wanted from the conversion -- it was either s-video to composite to composite to s-video that caused them some trouble. I haven't personally used it any (my VCR is S-VHS and my display lacks component, so everything is s-video), so I'm not sure how transparent it is.
