This debate comes back more times than Jason Voorhees, probably because we all keep poking it to see if it's really dead this time. :rolleyes:

If you can audibly discern the qualities of THX processing and THX products, and the cost is worth your while, it's a lock. If the pricetag for the products doesn't make sense to you when compared to products offering comparable specs and features that sound good to you, then stay away. If you don't know the answer, try an A/B test in store (good luck finding a salesperson who can do it properly) or at home.

THX was a good way of setting design goalposts in the home theater industry when a lot of the high-end manufacturers swore they'd only be making two-channel preamps and amps for stereo lovers forever and ever, amen. These days, I'm sure they make plenty of licensing $$$ based on the ubiquity of their logo, but it doesn't do any favors for the perceived value, especially when one considers the extensive array of quality manufacturers out there that offer good alternatives at often better prices (we're patronizing one of them now).
