I just purchased a 976 and a LG OLED B9 55" TV...4K looks fabulous (running through the 976's HDMI 2.0 ports)using a cheapo media player that does have HDMI 2.0 / HDCP 2.2...I also just purchased a HP Omen x 2S laptop...a 'gaming laptop' with an NVidia RTX 2070 video card that supports 4K...when hooking the laptop up to the 976 HDMI 2.0 ports there was no picture at all...nothing...when using the older HDMI ports on the 976 the picture stuttered and blinked about every 5 seconds...so- I hooked the laptop up to the LG TV directly and voila! There was that fabulous 4K picture. I was able to ARC the audio back to the 976 with no problem, but the 976's HDMI 2.0 ports simply do not work with the HP Laptop/NVidia RTX 2070 video card.

Any ideas?

This is just a guess, but can you specifically set the NVIDIA cards output to 4K, 60fps and see if that works? Maybe it's outputting some format that is causing the 076 to choke.

No such setting...it is 4K 60fps connected to the LG...looks like a NVIDIA & LG are doing something "non-standard" with their HDMI connection...might need a firmware update to keep up with them? LG & NVIDIA have some sort of special relationship...LG just announced an update to support the G-Sync ability of the NVIDIA card. 2 of the biggest vendors in the market...needs to be supported.

There is no NVIDIA control panel on your computer to adjust video settings? If not, you'll need to reach out to NVIDIA.

It may sound like a silly question, but you are using the HDMI output and not using something like a display-port to HDMI, correct?

The Model 976, as a repeater device, will report to the connected equipment that it is capable of virtually everything - high color depths, frame rates, resolution, etc. If your source device is trying to send more than 18GBPS though, the bandwidth of HDMI 2.0, you can have this problem. For example, 4K/60 4:4:4 can only be done at 8 bit(s); if 10, or 12 bit color depth, you are over the capabilities of HDMI 2.0. You would need to set the chroma subsampling to 4:2:2 if wanting to do 4K/60 at 10 or 12 bit color depth.

Feel free to open a support ticket with answers to the aforementioned, at support.outlawaudio.com, once you have access to a control panel for your graphics' card and can both confirm and change your video settings.

I got into the NVidia control panel and saw that I had duplicated the display with the laptop display and had the refresh rate set to 144Hz...which I thought was the (1) problem...so I fiddled with that some to get the LG into 4k mode with HDR...the NVidia CP settings are:

[list]
[*]4kx2k, 3840 x 2160 (native)
[*]Refresh Rate : 60Hz
[*]Color Depth : Highest (32 bit)
[*]Output color depth: 8bpc
[*]Output color format: RGB
[*]Output dynamic range: Full

Still no handshake - but my LG looks better! I even reduced the refresh rate to 30Hz (which reduced the color quality) but no effect. I just opened a ticket.

still trying to make this work...correction to previous posts: the [*]Color Depth : Highest (32 bit) is actually the Desktop setting...Output Color Depth is 8bpc

So - wondering if a product like the gofanco Prophecy 4K EDID Emulator & Feeder – 17 EDID Modes, Programmable EDID Copier & Manager, Amplifies & Equalizes Signal (4K @60Hz YUV 4:4:4, HDR, HDMI 2.0a, HDCP 2.2, 18Gbps, CEC Pass-Through) might be able to make both sides talk(HP=>976=>LG B9)...advertised as solving most HDMI handshake issues.

No peep out of NVidia nor LG on this.

Is there a way to monitor the handshake to see where it is failing?
