After many years of upgrading my system (with many hours of research on-line plus help from Gonk and Scott), I'm finally at point that is most satisfying and gratifying. My equipment consists of the Outlaw 990/7500, Outlaw LFM-1, JM Labs Chorus 700 series speakers, Denon 3930ci universal player, Synergistic speaker cables and interconnects and Outlaw cables.

I recently added more acoustic panels to finally complete the system. I purchased the panels online from ATS acoustics which added more detail and better acoustics to my system. These panels virtually eliminated any reflections in the room and also tighten the bass response. These panels were a bargain compared to others and can be custom made which I had the corner piece made as a bass trap.

Here are some pics of my system:

That's a very nice setup! I'm curious how you located the subwoofer along the wall. Each room is different, but I was cautioned to avoid mid-wall locations as they can be null points and reduce bass output. I'd like to add another sub and the only place is near the mid-point of a wall. I'd appreciate your insights into the placement of your LFM-1. I'm envious; aesthetic reasons in my family room dictate I can't add acoustic panels.

Avfan, I tried various positions in the beginning from between the TV and my front left speaker, then in the left corner. By the way, my front right side wall has a 4' opening to the foyer.

I decided to follow the advice from Peter T and placed the sub in my sitting position on a piece of plywood, then proceeded to crawl around until I found the best bass. I first used a source with a good recording with a lot of bass drums and guitars and found not much difference along the left side wall from the corner up to my couch. I also used the 990's speaker calibration signal to the sub, set it to 75db and crawled with my Radio Shack meter and actually found my side wall to have the loudest response! I placed a 4" acoustic panel between the wall and the sub to tighten the bass. The sub is not actually mid-wall but actually around 7 feet from the front wall with the room 18' long.

Finally, I mainly use the sub for movies or when playing SACD or D-Audio. Most of the time I listen to music in stereo since my JM Labs have a good bass response and I'm not big on too much bass.
