I'm just trying to understand the Model 976 and who is the actual designer of the product. I see there are 2 other manufactures (Beilarly Audio & FORTEX) with the same product that is just branded differently. There may be more. Anyways, this looks like a great product and would fit my needs quite well, but if something should need to be addressed from a software/firmware perspective, then it may be very difficult to be achieved if the design resides in another part of the world.
I've seen a few concerns from posts that the users have brought attention to, but I haven't seen any resolutions or updates.
Any insight would be great!

Thanks!!!

Outlaw will provide firmware updates when needed and I would not worry about them being able to address any issues that arise. I have the 976 and I am very satisfied so far with the sound quality.

Where did this info come from? Searching either company doesn't give me much.

Was just searching for other Model 976 reviews and stumbled upon these...

I am certainly not trying to stir the pot with this post. I'm simply trying to understand what is going on. Many people have asked for the feature to be able to name their inputs. Seems reasonable to me. I don't quite understand the resistance. The microcontroller has to manage the human interactions for the user interface, and it also has to communicate to the display driver to indicate what is written to the screen. Maybe this is a problem if an ASIC or FPGA is used to handle the control interface.
Another thing that seems to be on the wish list for some Model 976 owners is having on screen adjustments overlaid over the active video material or volume/surround mode... I realized that the product does not have an actual video processor to handle the processing necessary to alter active video. It is more of an HDMI switch, so that I can live without.
The Model 976 looks like a very nice product, and will probably be in my equipment rack at some point this year.

This is concerning. Is this Outlaw’s design or just a copy. Looks like a copy. Any thoughts?

Why is this concerning? For me, as long as the unit looks good, performs well and meets my needs, which it has so far, that is all that matters to me.

This has already been addressed by Outlaw, though, I can't find the thread. It may look like the other examples in Josecanuski's post, but Outlaw has stated the internal design, chip selection and software are Outlaw's.
They also showed the differences in circuitry between these other units by comparing internal pics.

My 976 performs quite well for me with the majority of theater use, 95% and the occasional times when I'm streaming music from my phone app using the very nice FTB-01 Bluetooth that came with it. grin

My concern is simply I would like to know where the product was designed and created from. My 976 works fine and I'm enjoying it. Still working through all of the options and the many ways to use it. As a proud and long term 990 user I have always been in Outlaw's camp. In fact I'm still using the 990 in a second room. Have great confidence in Outlaw. Just want to be sure my confidence is in Outlaw, not someone else.

Although they appear to be similar, if you check out the specs only the Fortex machine has the same capabilities as the 976. The others are 1080P capable and the S/N is 95 db along with the English unit being priced at $1500. I am sure that Outlaw used a base unit and enhanced it to become the 976. They did something very similar with the 990 and continue to re-brand equipment from other manufacturers.
