When the different Dolby(DD,Truehd)and DTS(DTS,DTSMA) audio formats are being played, are they displayed in the window with the correct format?

Page 35 of the manual says it will.

Thanks.I read that page. To further elaborate. If the last selected surround mode was Dolby PLIIx and then you played a BD that contains DTS-MA, would it automatically change the display to show the DTS-MA format?

Was hoping that anyone who has the 976 could state that it does indeed display the correct format.

From the manual, page 35:
1. Press the SURR MODE button on the
remote or the front panel.
The front panel display will read out the
currently selected surround mode or, if
no surround mode has been selected, the
format of the incoming signal.
If a digital 5.1 or 7.1 soundtrack is playing,
you will see a readout of the format of that
material and its channel content, such as
DOLBY DIGITAL [3/2].1. The first number
in the parentheses is the number of front
channels, while the second number is the
number of surround channels. The “.1” after
the parentheses indicates the presence of a
low-frequency eff ects (LFE) channel.

So......yes! (Unless you don't trust the Outlaws have the correct info here?)

A few things to add (from pg 12 of the manual):

1) You can always see what channels are playing and whether they are matrix or sourced by looking at the front panel display
2) There are tiny icons along the top for indicating PCM, Dolby, or DTS modes, but they do not indicate TrueHD or Master Audio versus the lossy formats. The alphanumeric display will normally show the selected source. The bitstream/format details will only be displayed when the SURR MODE button is pressed.
3) The front panel 'Info' button will also bring up the bitstream/format information (pg 8)

The "audio" button on your Oppo remote will also show you what audio track is being decoded on the source disc. It will show onscreen during playback and is selectable. I know we assume the highest format is on by default, but often it is not.
By looking at this, i quickly know what im sending to the 976.

I am aware that the OPPO will show the output audio. My current pre cannot decode the high res formats. So it shows that it's either DD or DTS. I just wanted to have a way to

The audio format does show up through the 976's window. It's very brief and it scrolls across the screen and then reverts to the input name.

If you'd like to see it later on, the first press of the Surr (surround mode) button will display the incoming format. To change surround modes, you then toggle the Surr button.
