I was just informed by MHT.com that I have won a JL Audio Fathom F112 sub...I'm speechless!

Woah - that's a serious sub there, Red.

I'm still in awe. Brian Dailey called from MHT to say that he was informing Robert at JL (who's currently at the CEDIA show in Denver) to ship the sub.

I'm only coming up to speed on the specs right now, but it's safe to say this thing will blow the other two out of the water.

Now I'm faced with the best of dilemmas - sell the B&W ASW650, or (and shame on my wife for thinking it), selling the new one. I don't think any self respecting HT enthusiast could sell one of these babies having won one. Me thinks I'll sell the B&W to a family member for a good deal...

here's a stat my jaw fell open on...it weighs 115 lbs. Yikes!

That's about 35 pounds heavier than an LFM-1 EX. If you hang on to it (which would sure be my temptation), let us know what you think of it.

definitely keeping it. The likelihood, with a little one on the way, that the wife would go for a $2400 sub is about 1-1.5% these days. So I think this is a great opportunity and I should have fun with it. Money comes and goes. This may be the only thing I win in my life. And I'm donating one of my 12's to my dad. He's got a sub the size of a lunch cooler - he'll be thrilled to get a new 12. I may need advice on which to keep.

B&W ASW650

Earthquake Sound SuperNova MKIV12

I'm leaning towards parting w/ the B&W. But I think the Earthquake is definitely worth more to me and I think it outperforms the ASW650 in many ways. (It's also a smaller, more compact, and therefore easier to place unit.)

Both are good performers. And I'm attached to both. Although I don't think she'd care too too much, the Earthquake I received from my wife as a birthday gift. I bought the B&W brand new at HiFi House for $575. Most likely the B&W goes to the old man. He'll love it.

From what you've said, I'd probably lean toward keeping the Earthquake as well.

Thanks Scott -

I already entered for the 970 Combo deal laugh

Birthday gift from the wife? Over here in the BK, that'd be a no-brainer, Red. 2X for the Earthquake…

…and congrats on the good fortune!

Well she said she didn't really care, but we married guys all know how those statements work laugh

I suppose the only thing that made me wonder which to part with is the fact that I am only recently getting over parting with my other B&W speakers and this sub was the last Bowers hardware I still have in my possession. Some sick part of me would rather keep it in a closet as a "back up unit"...JUST IN CASE. lol...

Pops has been real good to me for 29 years though and he deserves a break in light of my own recent fortune.
