If the dacs are solid, I plan on selling my 2150.

Based on what was used in the 976 I would expect to see the DACs in the RR-2160 to be updated over your RR-2150.

I scanned the manual and see under the section covering USB connectivity a PC can be connected via USB to the 2160 for PC's without sound cards or containing sub standard/outdated cards. Based on those listed specs the DAC's should be up to current standards.

From pg 25 of the manual, "The PC USB input allows the RR 2160 to act as
an external sound card for a PC or Mac. With this
input, any file format supported by the computer is
supported, with bit depth and sampling rates up to 24bit/192kHz"

I like the idea of the internet radio. I may have to consider two channel now.

From the announcement..."with both front and rear-panel USB inputs. They feed Burr-Brown PCM DACs with native 192/24 capability."

Yes, I expect that to be true. I am a proponent that most dacs today sound the same but the the 2150 usb was limited - would not integrate with a smart phone and limited to 16/48. However, it is over 10 years old. With this new feature set, not sure any 2 channel integrated can touch the 2160 at this price point.

I did find it interesting to see a processor loop has been provided. I wonder if there might be another new product in the works.

This is exactly what I need and want for my office. I am just bummed it's 120V, 60Hz only. I wish Outlaw used some switchable power supplies.

Outlaw has in the past made the 230V/50hz version of the 2150 in very limited quantities. Maybe they will do the same for the 2160.

If you look at the rear panel the warnings are in English, German and French but not Spanish. Why would they do this unless there was some European content planned?

Also, does anyone know why the 2160 needs 2 GBytes of FLASH memory? That seems like a lot to me...

What is the flash memory used for?
