I have been using the Marantz sr5005 as a pre-amp for a number of years and it has worked well. I use it more for audio (7.2 system) but not video. My blu-ray player, which has 2 hdmi outs, send a video signal directly to an overhead projector and an audio signal to the Marantz. I also have a Tivo that sends a video/audio signal to a plasma TV via hdmi and a video signal to my overhead projector via component. It also sends an audio signal via an optical cable to the Marantz which plays as TV and it also works well. I can watch Tivo either on my plasma TV or on my overhead projector (mostly movies or sports-the hi-def channels look good on my overhead projector screen).

I just upgraded my TIVO to the new Bolt and it does not have a component out, only 1 hdmi out which normally goes to my plasma TV but no longer to my overhead. Can I send the TIVO hdmi to the Marantz and then output a component image to the overhead projector and the hdmi out to the plasma TV?

What you are going to run into is HDCP which may prevent you from using the digital sources to output an analog video signal. Since the Marantz only has one HDMI output you may have to choose where to watch the Bolt. Another possibility is to get an HDMI splitter which could allow you to output the Marantz signal to either the TV or the Projector. Then you could feed your Blu-ray and the Tivo to the marantz. Do some good research on the HDMI splitters as I would expect there are some snake oil products out there.

Thanks for the response. I ran into a copyright issue when I tried to transfer some recent movies I Tivo's to my other Tivo. I was thinking of taking the new Tivo Bolt hdmi out to the Marantz hdmi in and then using the Marantz component out to the projecor and the hdmi out to my plasma. Probably the simplest think to do is plug in the projector hdmi cable into the Tivo out when I want to send the signal there. The Tivo Bolt is literally sitting on the bluray player so the switch is not inconvenient. I usually only project stuff like the super bowl or pro-basket ball or pro football and occasionally a movie I saved on Tivo.

Can you use both Tivos on the same account? The manual switch thing sounds like a good workaround if you only use it occasionally.

I have 2 Tivo's but the second one is in another room jealously guarded by my wife with her loads of TCM movies. I couldn't move the second Tivo to my media room as a result.

I might go ahead and re-route the Tivo output through the SR5005 and see what happens to the signal.
