You are helping w/some informal R&D.

Important: Line conditioner must be an Active device w/a degree of voltage regulation. Simple surge protectors are passive devices. Sorry they do not qualify.

Please respond with:
1. make?
2. model?
3. how long have you owned it?
...and most important:
4. have you EVER seen your device "take over" powering your system? Either due to a brown/blackout or lengthy over-voltage situation.
If yes to last question, did any equipment fail?

Thanks in advance, Tony

I do not own a 975 but I do have a 990 and an Onkyo PR-SC886 powered via my line conditioners. The primary reason I have them is not for voltage regulation (as most modern equipment power supplies have a decent operating range) but for lightning protection. Bear in mind that many "Line Conditioners" do not have backup power supplies like a UPS. My APC-15s have taken over to adjust voltage many times and in severe conditions have shut off the entire system. After the condition clears it starts back up normally. I have had both of mine for 7-8 years with no issues.

I cannot speak for all new gear but most of the flat screens with the repair tech down the road are in for power supply issues. I see no reason why it should be the case but looking at the majority of his work power supplies are rapidly becoming the weak link.

I ordered a new UPS for the office and plan to move the old one to the media cabinet to protect from low voltage conditions.

I have a Tripp-Lite LCR 2400.

I've had it for 2-3 years now and it has been working flawlessly. On the other hand, I can't recall that we've had any brownout conditions in this time frame.

I hid it on top of my entertainment center where it's not visible.

Note that it isolates outlets from interfering with each other-just noise, not ground loops.

I've got an APC Back-UPS NS 1050. It's served me well and I hear it trip on from time to time. I put it in because we have some pretty sketchy power in our little burg. Lots of brownouts and the occasional blackout so all of our electronics are on some sort of UPS.

Do you have a 975? I discovered your series UPS picks up @ 106VAC - that is GOOD BTW. Other UPSs, APCs included, won't pick up until the line voltage drop below 90!

Thanks for your feed back, the 'Destoyer.

This will not help any Tony but I now have an APC Back UPS XS 1500 covering all of the non amp gear. I have been in this house for seven months with no electrical events so no data to report.

I can say the APC has spent three years in the office and never recorded taking over due to an over voltage condition.

Since my last reply I PU an APC H15 set to narrow. Haven't had a lick of trouble since.

Using it to power all low-current gear plus the TV. I took special care to give the 975 it's own bank. Look at my sig for more power distribution details. Maybe once a week I see the APC take over. Usually due low line voltage, sometimes due to over voltage.

Happy 2017! Tony
