I am now using my 990 in my dedicated thater with a Sony VPL-HW55ES projector. The projector does not have a composite video input. How do I see the OSD display on the projector? I cannot tell which surround mode I am in as the equipment is in a closet next to my theater. I am open to all suggestions. Thx

You can use the Component Video input on the Sony projector for OSD viewing.

Since the menu screen doesn't have color reproduction, you only need to use the single "green" RCA out from the component monitor out on the back of the Model 990.

Or, you may use the single yellow composite monitor out connected to the single "green" Component Video input on the Sony projector.

Is there anyway to see which surround mode you are in without looking at the 990? My 990 is in another room and I would like to know which surround mode I am in when I toggle thru the Dolby/ DTS modes. Is there a way to see this on the tv?

Unfortunately, the surround mode info is not displayed on the TV. However, on page 25 of the owner's manual, there is a "Default Surround Mode Selection" section, that describes how to set a default surround mode for each input or source.

You can choose a specific surround mode for each input source that the 990 will default to, when changing to that input.
