i just finished setting up my aperion home theater with my 2 533pt speakers as left main and right main (each w/ built in 8in sub). but when i crank up my outlaw 970/7075, i get slight buzzing niose which sounds like its coming from my left speaker, and or my salamder av rack. you can only hear when you get right up to the speaker and when the volume and bass is increase. at first i thought the nuts in my av were rattling, then i thought it was the speaker itself, then i thought maybe it was the wooden floors, but i checked and everything seems OK. at first i thought it was just the left speaker, but the right speakers also gives a fiant buzzing (less so then the left). these 533pt have the built in 8in sub, so what is that annoying buzzing niose? is it the left speaker to close to the corner, the speaker, component rack just 8in from the left main, hardwood floor, my room itself? what can I do? i was also thinking of buying a dedicted 10in sub to help from front mains because my room is rather large and the 533pt need help. would adding a 3rd sub in system help?

what i'm thinking is that the 8in sub in the 533-pt maybe can't pump out the bass in my large room with openings on two sides room (25x14x10), thus buzzing coming from the woofer in the sub. maybe it is more promenient in the left main bacause the sub fires on the side and it is near the corner, where as the right 533pt fires on the side into a open space. could it be that the 533-pt just can't handle big bass for a fairly large space (they can go down to 30hz though). maybe if i crossover the 533-pts at 40hz or 60 hz to a new 10in sub that would help??

Have you tried switching L/R wiring to eliminate the pre/pro or receiver?

What pre/pro are you using?

Can you take the powered sub out of the loop to see if a woofer is buzzing?

i'm using the 970/7075 combo. i'm thinking the buzzing is either something on my av rack which is rattling which i can seem to find, the speaker not being able to handle the bass, or the idea of the sub firing into the corner area of the room. the buzzing is rather faint. you can only notice it when the volume is up, bass is up, and you are a few feet from the speaker. any ideas? i can not take the powered sub out because it is built into the 533-PT and the woofer is the side firing sub.

Reorient the speaker in another direction so that the subwoofer fires out instead of sideways.

If that changes the buzz, then it is in the wall or that side of the room. If not, then maybe you have something loose in the speaker.

Just thoughts!

Many years ago shortly after I got my speakers I noticed a buzzing sound during certain musical passages that had a high content of upper midrange. Finally I localized it to the left speaker. I swapped channels and it stayed with the left speaker. After some critical listening I pinned it down to the upper midrange driver. I removed it from the cabinet and saw the paper part number tag hanging over the edge of the speaker magnet. I tore off the loose end and reinstalled the midrange driver.
Voila! No more buzzing.
All this because some schmoe couldn't do his job.
