Hey all,

Finally getting to hook up my 975 today. Got everything together and flipped it on. Did a quick input selection setup in the menu and then went to test things out. Coles notes: no sound from a source using HDMI First discovered with my PVR. Picture but no sound. Tried bluray player and same thing. Then I added an optical from my bluray to the 975 and picked that as the audio source instead and it worked! Xbox 360 (I have the 1st gen model) with analog audio works. iPod with an analog patch cord works. Apple TV, bluray and PVR all have picture but NO sound This is the case even when using headphones with the 975 so that rules out any connections to my amp.

Any thoughts? Nothing like having a broken system hours before new years eve when you were counting on sound a video. Worst case I can hook up my old receiver again but I don't need to tell you how sad that will make me.

Here is a long shot - Make sure your video HDMI input matches the audio HDMI input. For instance if your cable box is on video HDMI1 then the audio has to be HDMI1 also. Any chance the HDMI cable is bad. Sounds like you have already covered the old "switched in headphone mode" and the venerable "its on mute" possibilities. Do any other HDMI inputs have the issue or are they all acting the same? Call Scott at Outlaw or maybe he will see this and PM you.

In addition to trying Xenonman's suggestion, you can also try a reset as outline in page 51 of the manual.

If neither approaches work, please call Scott on Wednesday.

Ok...I had a response in progress but the problem seems to have resolved itself. I had connected the AppleTV's audio temporarily with an analog stereo patch cord but I switched the 975 back to use HDMI3 for audio (HDMI already being used for appletv video). While I was scratching my head my fiance (who to her credit is pretty tech savvy) toggled the 'surr mode' button on the front panel of the 975 and voila! Sound! ?!?! No idea why...maybe it needed a little burp? I had toggled surround modes using the mini remote but nothing was working before. I've since gone back to all HDMI inputs and audio is working!
I never love it when I don't understand why something starts working...but for now I'll take it. Fingers crossed it stays that way. I'll update if something changes.
