I had to redirect my 975 for pickup at FedEx - it was scheduled for delivery tomorrow but no one will be home. I'm hoping the redirect (submitted yesterday) will still allow me to pick it up tomorrow. This weekend is open but next weekend I won't be able to work on it...so fingers crossed.

I am surprised by the dearth of reports here given that it has been shipping for over a week. I ordered on 11/30 so there were two weeks for orders ahead of me. Anyway, with any luck, I'll have some hands-on knowledge by Sunday.

I don't recall seeing the info, but the spec indicates "192 kHz 24-bit DAC's for all channels"
From the SR5005 specs: "24bit/192kHz DAC Support"

I'm not sure I'm allowed to discuss the specifics of which DAC it is (I'll leave that up to the Outlaws if they want to talk about it). However, I do believe that Peter said publicly in the forums that the chipset is from Cirrus. I'm not sure which one is used by the SR5005.

Best,

Why is that, were you a beta tester? -Bob

I was not a beta tester.

Just curious, but has anyone been able to correlate the DAC chip used to the overall sound quality of the product? Seems to me there's so much more involved, from all the analog stages following the DAC, to the volume control, to the upsampling (if any), to the clocking...

I'm sure they're correlated. A good DAC is a neccessary part of the system but not, by itself, sufficient to determine sound quality because, as you noted, there are many other variables that impact sound quality.

Picked up my 975 after work. Weekend is predicted to be rain/sleet/snow and my shopping is done. Testing and setup of the 975 will be the order of the weekend!
