Hello all,

I am currently sending the left and right channel from my phono preamp to the front 5.1 channel inputs. I am doing this to avoid digitizing the analog signal which occurs when using the AUX input. I now have a Blu-Ray player with 5.1 channel analog outputs which I also want to connect to the same 5.1 channel inputs. Then I can take advantage of the BR audio features. Can I do this with an RCA female to male splitter so that the front channels have two inputs? Is there any risk of damage to the Outlaw 1050 if it gets two signals at once? Or should I get a switch? If a switch, can anyone recommend a reasonably priced one?

Regards,
Jim

I would not recommend connecting two sources to the same input. You would be better off using a switch. Since one of your sources is stereo only, you could get by with just a single stereo switch (which is good because 5.1 switches are rare and expensive).

I'm on my phone right now, so I can't search as easily, but I will try to check a few spots for possible options later.

I've used a couple of A/V selectors from Radio Shack and have been pretty pleased with the analog ones. They don't seem to degrade the signal and can be programmed to accept remote codes.

A device like this could do the trick.

Thanks, gonk and KOYAAN. I have another option, to connect both the Outlaw preouts and the NAD preamp outputs to a switch, then to the Parasound amp. That would shorten the signal path from the phono a bit, but I would also lose the remote volume control of the Outlaw.

I would be in favor of preserving the volume control in the Outlaw, at least if it were me. It will likely be simpler in the long run.

The NAD 106 is actually a full preamp with multiple inputs and controls. It's just a short walk way from my sweet spot.

Has anyone had experience with Niles switches. The PS-1 (~$80) looks just right, 2 RCA in, 1 out.
