Painttoad, I could be in the minority, but I've never noticed any problems with signal degrading due to weather with DirecTV. Also don't have any problems with sound dropping out. CS at Dish never resolved any of my problems, not even when I told them I'd be switching service if something wasn't done. Guess who has my business now...
well, that's something!i just kinda figured weather played a factor.wait till it gets crappy out again, they will get a call!although dish did bring out a receiver for upstairs when i had problems with reception on that unit(and i called and threatened them since i had cable here hooking up broadband at the same time) smile

I spoke to a Voom customer service rep. today and they informed me that they were not shutting down and it was full steam ahead. Plans to add new programming and a DVR were still going forward. We will see....

I have been with Voom since April of 2004 and I have been very satisfied with the picture quality of HD and SD channels. The SD channels do vary somewhat but overall they rather good. I have also been with Direct TV and Dish and the PQ was good also but Voom had a better deal for HD. I hope Voom survives but if not then I will probably go back to Dish.

Voom is ceasing service on April 30, 2005. Too bad. They offered a unique service that was just a little too soon, IMHO.
I hope Direct TV picks up the slack.

I am just going to go into that vast void and not get anything . I am moving in a couple of months so it doesn't make sense to pay for another install until I move. Thank God for talk radio smile

I have had Voom for over 1 year and will miss it...The HD kicked butt.

I too was a VOOM customer and loved it. I just got DISHNETWORK and added their HD service with the 10 VOOM channels. I don't know if it is me or the new equipment, but the HD seems less detailed, almost softer....
Anyone else gone this route?
By the way, adding the second dish and tuning to the 61.5 SAT was not easy...
