I have a 30+ ft run from Bravo D2 to my BenQ 8700+. Tried a DVI cable run (30ft)of supposedly good quality and could not get a connection. Tried a short run and it worked. ? is- does a "DVI repeater"solve most of these issues? If so, where does the repeater go-at the DVD player or at the end run B4 the PJ?And either way- I would need a short DVI cable additionally.(?)

here's a website for you:

http://www.gefen.com/kvm/products/dvi_extension.jsp

the first product on that page works as a sender and repeater to send a DVI signal over long distances using a CAT-5 cable. It should do the trick...

Ok...just read the price...umm...it may be a little pricey...

Option #2:
http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1207

A bit cheaper option but it may require the use of a second cable.

Keep us posted on the results. I have a D2 also and may run into the same exact issue. smile

Thanks J - I have structured wiring throughout the house.I was looking at GEFEN as the repeater. At this point , I will pay the price to upgrade to DVI - quite a difference from component and the Bravo D2.The cable though....hmmmm.
Monster too $$$, and so are tributaries. Maybe BLUEJEAN's are the way to go. Gotta get in touch with them and find out if they R returnable!

30 feet... Ouch - that's close to twice the DVI standard's distance limitation of 5 meters.

I've had good luck with the few Blue Jeans Cables in my system, and as listed here they offer a return policy that should be familiar to gunslingers around here - it's the same policy used by Outlaw, 30 days no questions asked.

The DVI cable I have running from my HD cable box to my display is from Pacific Cable . It's a much shorter length than you are considering, at only 2 meters, but the cable I have is well made and their prices are very good for lengths up to 5 meters. On the other hand, the 10 meter length they offer costs $110. That's actually higher than Blue Jeans.

The quote from Blue Jeans Cable's website says, "We've tested the AVLink DVI-D cables at 1080i and 720p resolutions, all the way out to 50 feet, and have observed no signal degradation at all."

(You've probably already read this, but thought I'd post it here for others.)

Oh, good spot, kugumby. Could be worthwhile to try the Blue Jeans cable without a booster before committing to the added expense.

Sounds like an idea. The biggest problem now is getting time to be home to correspond with cable delivery..Don't want to overshoot the return period.Wouldn't mind saving the $250 for the repeater.
Thanks outlaws
