I just did an upgrade from Dish which included a new HD receiver and a newer HD DVR in my home theater room. I have the HD DVR hooked to my 970 via optical cable and stereo cables. I am having the following issues with the newer model HD DVR.

When I change channels on the DVR there is static from the speakers until the channel locks in. Once the channel locks there is no static present. Also when I stop a recorded DVR event there is static present until I resume play.

I checked a few things and one was setting the 970 to analog input from the DVR. With this setting there is no static. Then I checked the optical connection which looks OK.

I did not have this problem with the older HD DVR.

Does anybody have any recommendations on what could be causing this probem?

Try disconnecting the stereo cables and just use optical. They could be interfering with one another.

You might also look at the Auto Poll setting on the 970 (pg 26 in the 970 manual). I've never seen your particular problem on my 970 but I know that when Auto Poll is ON it will switch from digital input to analog input when the digital stream is interrupted. If Auto Poll isn't OFF already try turning it OFF and see if that makes a difference. If it is OFF turn it back ON and see if that makes a difference. That might provide some clues as to what's going on.

Thanks for the feed back.

FYI

After checking things I finally took by HD DISH receiver from my family room and hooked it up. Guess what no static. Dish told me that the DVR must have a bad digital output. New one on the way.
